Living Joyfully:
|
|
Hi Everyone,
Today is my birthday! I woke up thinking, what nice thing can I do for myself today? And I wonder, why don't we ask ourselves that question every day?
Today, in addition to enjoying the present moment - taking care of my little daughter, walking in the sunshine, practicing Yoga - I'm taking a mental vacation back to visit the places, people, and moments I've enjoyed connecting with over the past year. One of my favorite memories is a day I spent with friends at Laguna beach while on a visit to California for Moo gong Do training. When I meditate on it, I can still feel the sun, the sand, the warm water. Our mental powers are amazing, and how we use them has an incredible effect on our mood, our relations with other people, our level of happiness.
Most
of us are privileged with the wherewithal to actually do something nice
for ourselves every day, like getting out to a Yoga practice. But where do we choose to dwell in our own minds? I believe that living joyfully is a conscious choice that we can make at almost any moment. Our lives are all filled with challenges, annoyances, and setbacks. But they are also filled with wonders, uplifts, and delights. The choice is ours. So make today a good one!
Namaste, Erin

Yamuna Body Rolling
|
|
Named after its inventor, Yamuna Zake, Yamuna Body Rolling is a unique system providing
health, fitness and massage-all rolled into one. YBR
reeducates muscles and stimulates bones creating positive and permanent
changes in the body. Lying on the ball, you literally roll your body
out almost like dough, stretching and elongating your muscles. The YBR
routines follow specific sequences that match the body's own logic and
order. Starting where each muscle begins at its origin, you roll toward
where it attaches to its point of insertion. In the Introductory Workshop you w ill learn how to use the Yamuna Body Rolling balls to work specific muscles in detail, creating suppleness in tight areas and optimizing your range of motion. Best of all, you'll know how to practice these techniques on your own. A second workshop will be held on December 5 to take the practice deeper and explore other areas of the body. Instructor Nathalie Chanut is the only Yamuna Body Rolling Instructor in the area - aren't we lucky she's here? Visit Nathalie's studio website to learn more by clicking here. Workshop I "Introduction" 11/7, 3-6
Workshop II 12/5, 3-6 pm Single Workshop cost: $120
Register for both: $170 Pre-Registration is required. Cost includes equipment: (a green ball & foot waker) and handouts reviewing the techniques covered in the workshop.

The Art of Walking
|
|
The Art Of Walking: Feldenkrais with Erin & Carl
After
most of us accomplish the great feat of learning how to walk when we are
between one and two years old, our walking just becomes "how we walk"
and we rarely wonder into how well we walk, or the possibility of
improving our walking. Is your walking easy? As efficient as it could
be? Is it pleasurable? Graceful? Do nagging aches and pains tend to
arise? Here's an important question: Do they need to?
In
this workshop we will explore the rich terrain of human gait: We will
learn how we can improve our walking at any age or in any shape,
updating our old habits into new choices, and learning how with
awareness and curiosity, we can continue to refine the way we walk for
as long as we are alive.
Both Erin and Carl will be teaching.
