REGISTRATION OPENS FOR YBA-Naale ELITE
ACADEMY IN ISRAEL

Registration has begun for the YBA-Naale Elite Academy program at two YBA dormitory schools – Yeshivat Ohel Shlomo in Beer Sheva for boys, and Ulpanat Segula in Kiryat Motzkin near Haifa for girls. The program is fully funded by the Ministry of Education, and accepts only 25 students per school each year.
The 3-year program is geared toward mature and motivated students seeking a high-level Torah and secular education, as well students who wish to become fluent in Hebrew and familiar with Israeli society. Applicants are professionally assessed and screened to assure they possess the personal traits needed to successfully adjust to living away from their parents and succeed academically. Screening days will be scheduled in cities across the US and posted on the website.

The YBA-Naale Elite Academy tenth grade curriculum focuses on mastering conversational Hebrew, with up to 4 hours a day of Ulpan lessons. The goal is to mainstream the students into regular Hebrew language classes in the eleventh and twelfth grades, with additional support if necessary. (The program is especially appropriate for families contemplating making Aliyah.) Graduates will receive an Israeli high school matriculation diploma [teudat bagrut], recognized by most universities in the US, and an optional SAT preparation course will also be offered.

YBA-Naale ELITE ACADEMY FAQ's

How long has the Naale Elite Academy program existed?

The Naale program was originally started by the Israeli Government in 1992 to foster the immigration of teens from the FSU ahead of their parents. The Elite Academy program for North American teens was opened in 2002, and YBA schools have been affiliated with the program since 2006.

Who is responsible for the children in the program?

The program is run by the Association for the Promotion of Education, a non-profit public body established by the Education Ministry. The affiliated dormitory schools provide full-time adult supervision of the students.

Must the students make Aliyah?

No. Naale Elite Academy students do not become citizens of Israel, nor are they required to commit to future Aliyah.

How can there be no tuition fee?

There is a non-refundable $100 application fee and $150 screening fee. However, once accepted, each student receives a full scholarship (including room and board and a small living stipend) for three years – fully funded by the State of Israel.

What is the screening fee for?

The YBA-Naale Elite Academy, as its name implies, is not for everyone. Each student is evaluated by specialists using a series of educational and psychological tests to determine if he/she is appropriate for the program.

What do the students do on their free weekends away from the dormitory?

The program fosters links between the students and Israeli volunteer families that open their hearts and their homes to the students, and the relationships often continue even after the students have completed the program.
Can students return to the US after one year?
Yes. While we do everything possible to assure that our students have a successful adjustment, a student may leave the program at any point if he/she wishes to return to the US to finish high school.
