Place your vote today for Hammon as Gridiron Legends Player of the Week

Krysten Hammon needs your votes! The Dickinson High School Varsity Gators running back has been nominated for the Gridiron Legends Player of the Week award, presented by Dave Campbell's Texas Football. He is one of 10 nominees for the weekly statewide award, which is 100 percent decided by fan voting. The poll, which closes at 12 noon this Friday, September 21, can be found in the bottom right hand corner of the following website.

The website will only register one vote per computer but you can vote at work, again on a home computer, one your smart phone, etc.

Hammon ran for 459 yards and scored five of the Gator touchdowns in the high-scoring game against South Houston High School September 14. The score went back and forth and entire game, with the Gators falling to South Houston in overtime by a field goal. Hammon was also named the Boys Athlete of the Week by the Houston Chronicle and ranked #1 in the Galveston County Daily News Top 10 Performers list for Galveston County high school football.

Congratulations Krysten and Go Gators!

DHS to host Open House September 24

Dickinson High School parents are invited to an Open House on Monday, September 24. The evening will kick off with a meeting of the school's newly formed PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization) at 6:30 p.m. in the DHS Auditorium. The Open House will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. with parents invited to visit classrooms and teachers. Student schedules can be picked up in the front mall area of the school and a map of the school will be included on the back.

The Open House is designed to give parents time to meet each teacher. Sign-up sheets will be available in each class for parents to complete if they would like to schedule a more in-depth conference with the teacher regarding their student. Student organizations and booster clubs will also be on hand selling school spirit shirts.
Reminder... DHS Cell Phone Policy

As the new school year is now underway, just a reminder about the Dickinson High School student cell phone policy. Students must keep cell phones off and put away during school hours of 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. If a teacher or administrator sees a cell phone out during that time or hears one ring, the phone will be taken up. In the event a phone is taken up, a parent, guardian or other responsible adult must come to the school front office between 2-4 p.m. on Thursdays only to pay the $15 return fee and pick up the phone. Please stress to your student the importance of abiding by the cell phone policy.
