April 6 is a student/staff holiday

Friday, April 6 is a student and staff holiday in Dickinson ISD. All campuses will be closed. On the school calendar, it is noted as a possible bad weather make-up day, but since the district has not had to close during the year for bad weather, the day will be a student and staff holiday.
Dickinson ISD named North Galveston County Chamber Business of the Month for April

businees of the month

Members of the North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce made a surprise visit this week to name Dickinson ISD as the Chamber's Business of the Month for April. Chamber members said they chose Dickinson ISD because of the achievements of our district, students and employees throughout the year. They also wanted to recognize DISD employees for all of the hard work they do for the community.

DISD students are up to par at
Shell Houston Open's First Tee Challenge

The Shell Houston Open kicked off activities with the First Tee Champions Challenge, where hundreds of elementary students from around the Houston area participated in the event held at the Red Stone Golf Course.

Participating in the event were 15 Dickinson ISD students from Bay Colony, Calder Road, K.E. Little, San Leon and Silbernagel elementary schools.

For the second year in a row, students from Silbernagel Elementary were a part of one of the winning teams. Those students include Christian Welch, Adriel Gonzales and Kayleigh Cortez. Out of 100 boys competing, Christian Welch finished in third place and Adriel Gonzales finished in 13th place individually. Christian was among the winners invited to meet Disney actress, Raini Rodriguez.

Also earning the opportunity at the campus level to represent Dickinson ISD were Tye Thompson, Joseph Cazares and Shae-Marie Stafford from Bay Colony; Martiza Ochoa, Hayden Wunstel and Churchman Howell from San Leon; Dawson Boudreaux, Logan Lynch and Jessica Elliott from Calder Road; Tanner Flores, Mariah Woodley, and Gema Marina Favela from K.E. Little.

All the students were given tickets to the Shell Houston Open for their participation. Good job, Gator First Tee golfers!
