Dickinson High School students make history with 19 headed to state History Fair
For the first time ever, Dickinson High School has 19 students headed to the state History Fair competition in Austin. DHS has never had this many students advance to the state competition before. The students and teachers spent countless hours working on the projects and they proved hard work pays off.
Congratulations to the following students for their regional accomplishments and the opportunity to advance to the state level. They include: Abraham Parada, second place for Individual Historical Paper; Alaina Hughes and Jessie Boone, first place for Group Documentary; Alquesha Beasley, Emma Greiner, Samantha Low and Jessica Rodriguez, second place for Group Documentary; Madison Gove, first place for Individual Performance; Bill Duong, Dillon Klein, Faith Lee and Angelica Ramirez, first place for Group Performance; Faith Weeks and Kaitlyn Lombardi, first place for Group Exhibit; Kimberly Huerta, second place for Group Exhibit; Danny Zermeno, Anna Novak and Erica Esders, first place for Group Interpretive Website.
Special thanks to teacher Cheri Van Sant, who spent countless hours working with the students to get each individual project competition ready.

DHS Powerlifter wins state title; team finishes in second place
The Dickinson High School Boy's Powerlifting Team finished in second place at the State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene, Texas this past weekend. DHS also had a competitor take home the gold medal. Kenny Nguyen won the 123 pound class with a state record bench press of 300 pounds.
Powerlifter Lorenzo Castandena also placed fourth in the 242 pound class while Tim Jenkins placed third in the Super Heavy Weight class.
Justin Gary finished in the top ten in the 181 pound class.
This is the first time the DHS Powerlifting Team has ever had a state title winner and a top team finish at the state meet. Way to go!!
