This week is Generation Texas week at DISD
  
Generation Texas week is celebrated across Texas to create a culture of college and career education among students. Barber college dayThe hope is this awareness and education will lead our students to create the most successful generation. Activities took place throughout the week promoting college and military readiness. 

DHS career fair                            

On Wednesday, students and teachers across the district wore shirts to support their favorite schools. Dickinson High School also hosted a college fair with dozens of university representatives.


                            
Today DHS students will learn about financial aid and 40 students will take a field trip to an Energy Industry Career Fair.

Houston Ballet visits Barber Middle School

Houston balletBarber Middle School had a festive visit yesterday with a representative from the Houston Ballet. Fifth and sixth grade girls got to see rountines from The Nutcracker and learn all about the ballet performed annually in Houston. The girls learned about the costumes, pointe shoes and what it takes to put a production of that caliber together every year.
