Dickinson ISD Homecoming Parade is today 

The annual Dickinson High School Homecoming parade will be held  today at 5:30 p.m. The parade will start at the corner of FM 517 and 1266, ending at Sam Vitanza Stadium. Immediately following the parade, there will be a community-wide pep rally in the stadium. 
Reminder: Retirement Reception for
Dr. Williams is Thursday

 

Leland WilliamsThe community is invited to a retirement reception honoring Dr. Leland Williams for his 16 years of service in the Dickinson Independent School District. Dr. Williams has served as the district's Superintendent since 1995 and was instrumental in the completion of three successful bond issues, increasing the district's fund balance, leading the district to earn its first-ever recognized district achievement this school year, as well as many recognized and exemplary achievements at the campus level.

The reception will take place in DISD's Education Support Center, 2218 FM 517 East, from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m. Oct. 13.  
DHS choir students receive district honors

 

Congratulations go out to the following Dickinson High School choir students for making District Choir. These students will now advance to Regional Auditions on October 29. The following students will be representing DHS:

Samantha Jaramillo - Alto II
Jeffery Wadkins - Tenor II
Cole Turner - Tenor II
Barber students get creative with Science

 

Barber ScienceThe 5th grade Science students at Barber Middle School are working on a cumulative project to showcase their first five weeks of school. The students were asked to design a vessel that was less dense than water, describe its physical properties, and use force to get it across a kiddy pool. The students came up with some amazing ideas and enjoyed putting their ideas into action!  
Project Graduation fundraiser

 

The Project Graduation BBQ dinner will take place this Friday from 5-8 p.m. in the DHS caferteria. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased from Ms. Nall in the Counselor's Office or by calling 409-457-5788. All proceeds will be used to fund the 2012 DHS Project Graduation. 
Dickinson High School offering tutorials 

 

Dickinson High School is offering an extended learning opportunity to all DHS students through the extended day tutorial program. Students may attend tutorials on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week, 2:45 pm - 4:45 pm. Tutoring is available in English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Spanish. Students who need to recover credit may also use APEX during tutorial times. Enrichment is also being offered which includes PSAT/SAT Prep, AP Survival Skills and Study Skills. Transportation home is available to all students who live within the district's boundaries. Sign up for transportation in the counseling center on the DHS campus.
