Back to School student registration dates set for new and also current DISD students

All Dickinson ISD campuses require parents to re-register current students to allow the schools to verify address and other student data information. Parents of current students are asked to bring proof of residency, such as a copy of a current utility bill or lease/rental agreement with name of parent/guardian.

Parents registering students new to Dickinson ISD are asked to bring the student's birth certificate, social security card, updated immunization record, parent identification, student's last report card, proof of residency and complete custody papers (if applicable). High school students should also bring their unofficial transcript showing courses already taken.

Athletic participation fee implemented

for 2011-2012 school year

Dickinson ISD junior high and high school student athletes will have to pay an athletic participation fee this school year to participate in school sports. The Board of Trustees approved the fees at its July meeting as one of the ways to help offset the budget issues facing Dickinson ISD. Many other school districts in our area and across the state already charge athletic participation fees or are implementing them for the coming school year.

Dickinson High School athletes who make a team after tryouts will pay a $50 one-time-per-year athletic participation fee, while athletes at McAdams Junior High will pay $25 per year. This is a flat rate fee, which will be collected once annually regardless of the number of sports in which a student participates. Fees for all fall participants will be due by Sept. 15 and fees for spring only participants will be due by Feb. 15. To help families with several students, a family maximum of three participation fees per year was also approved.

Students will be receiving additional information soon regarding the athletic participation fee and the payment process.
