Vicki Mims named lone finalist for Dickinson ISD Superintendent
The Dickinson Independent School District Board of Trustees voted June 1 to name Vicki Mims as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Dickinson ISD. She has been selected to take the chief executive officer position in the district following the retirement of Dr. Leland Williams, who has served as Superintendent of Dickinson ISD for the past 16 years.
Mims has been an employee of Dickinson ISD for 32 years where she has served as teacher, counselor, teacher facilitator and principal before being promoted to Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services 10 years ago. In her position, she has taken the lead in curriculum alignment and instructional strategy improvements. During this time, Dickinson ISD state assessment scores have improved dramatically with the district proudly having four exemplary campuses and four recognized campuses through the Texas Education Agency.
Mims and her husband Sam live in Dickinson ISD and have two grown daughters.
The state requires a 21-day waiting period before the lone finalist can sign a contract and assume the superintendent's position. A Board of Trustees meeting will be called around the end of June to make the lone finalist selection official.
