Board approves list of statements related to 2011-2012 school year budget planning

The Dickinson ISD Board of Trustees approved a list of five statements as they continue the difficult process of developing a 2011-2012 school year budget, while facing reduced funding of approximately $4-$7 million from the State of Texas.

The statements address job security, class size increases and teacher appreciation, proactive response regarding the superintendent's salary, administrative staff reduction in workdays and compensation and planning for any teacher furlough days in the event they are implemented.

The Board approved the statements to recognize and show appreciation for efforts of current employees and express the intent of the Board of Trustees to protect jobs of employees with the current financial situation.
