DHS students qualify for State History Fair

 

Dickinson High School had several groups and individuals participate in the Regional History Fair and many walked away with awards. Faith Weeks and Kaitlin Lombardi won first place for their exhibit, US Atmospheric Nuclear Testing Era. Madison Gove won first place for her performance in, A Bright Idea, while Cao Truong won top honors for his exhibit, The Treaty of Tianjin. Katherine Kelly also took home the top prize for her paper, Tuskeegee Syphillis Experiment: What have we done?

 

Candice Moore won second place for her web site, Freemasonry: Religion or Cult?  Taking home third place was Brooke Harris for her documentary, Friend of Foe? Apollo-Soyuz Test Program. Erica Esders and Anna Novak also received third place for their web site, Casablanca Conference.

 

Students who received first or second place will be invited to compete in the State History Fair next week. Go Gators!

 

DISD students take TAKS this week
  
TAKS rallyStudents across the Dickinson Independent School District are taking the TAKS test this week. The students, teachers and administrators have been gearing up for this week all year long. In preparation for the test, teachers offered extra tutoring while administrators offered incentives for good scores. Over at Silbernagel Elementary, a former professional football player and a former college football player motivated the students to ace the TAKS. The players talked about the importance of the test while leading cheers and signing autographs. Good Luck to all DISD students!!
McAdams Dance Team meeting

The Royal Dance Team at McAdams Junior High will have a mandatory information meeting on May 3rd at 6 p.m. The meeting is for both incoming 7th grade girls and 8th grade girls who want to tryout for the dance team. Tryouts will be held May 16th-18th from 3:30-5:00. DHS softball player signs letter of intent

Dickinson High school softball player Kati Walker committed to play softball at Clarendon College. Kati received a  scholarship to play two years for the Lady Bulldogs. At DHS, Kati was a part of the Lady Gators varsity softball team and was coached by Kati Farias.

Spring Community Resource event planned

 

The Dickinson Independent School District is hosting a Spring Communty Resource event for anyone interested in receiving assistance. Over a dozen local agencies will be there to provide information and answer questions. The event will be held in the cafeteria at San Leon Elementary on May 10 from 4:30- 6 p.m.
