May 30 is now a regular school day

for Dickinson ISD students and teachers

The previously scheduled student/teacher holiday on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011, is now a regular school day for Dickinson ISD students and teachers. The Board of Trustees approved the calendar change at its board meeting on Monday.

The calendar change is due to the missed day of school on Feb. 4 for the bad weather conditions experienced in the area. Texas Education Agency policy requires that the district makeup the missed instructional day.

With the makeup day falling on Memorial Day, teachers can incorporate the significance of Memorial Day in their lessons.
