Winter Weather Update -

Dickinson ISD schools are open

At this time Dickinson ISD schools are in session. We have been informed by area electric providers that our area will be experiencing rolling power outages as part of a state-wide emergency effort in response to the winter weather conditions throughout the state. The periodic outages are not affecting school.

Dickinson ISD is continuing to monitor the weather conditions and if any closings are warranted, information will be posted on the district website, a special-alert Gator Bytes will be sent out and information will be posted on www.SafeSchoolAlerts.org and sent to local news media.
DHS honored for good sportsmanship

DHS Sportsmanship AwardDickinson High School and its fans are being recognized for their positive actions and support of sports. This year DHS was selected as first runner-up for the Touchdown Club of Houston's Sportsmanship award. The award is presented by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and judged by area referees.  Sixteen Greater Houston 5A high schools were selected as finalists due to these criteria: actions of teams and players at games, actions of the support groups at games and respect for the American flag. Pasadena Memorial won the award, Dickinson was second and Houston Memorial finished third. In its first year to be nominated, Dickinson administrators say they are very pleased to take home the first runner-up trophy and plaque.  Dickinson was the only finalist to place from Galveston County. Pictured above is Head Football Coach Warren Trahan with football player Tyrell Preston accepting the award at a recent luncheon.

DHS freshman girls basketball team

Congratulations to the Dickinson High School freshman girls basketball team which competed in a junior varsity level tournament in Brazoswood recently and won first place. This was the first time a Dickinson freshman team has ever earned that achievement. Way to go girls!
