Texas Legislature contact information

As partners in education, our state lawmakers are critical to the success of our school district and the other districts across the state. Legislation passed on a state level greatly impacts public education. Through the link below, you will find contact information on our district website for the representatives and senators serving the Dickinson area, as well as the leaders of the Education Committees for both the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate. It is provided for your use in contacting these leaders if you choose, to share your opinions regarding the upcoming decisions regarding public education. Should employees choose to contact legislators, they are asked to do so on their own time and not during school hours or on school equipment, as that would go against school district policy.

DISD teacher publishes book

San Leon Elementary teacher Tanya Guidry is now a published author. Guidry, who writes under the pen name of Tanya Michelle, has released her first book, "The President Looks Like Me." Guidry says being around her second grade students and their books inspired her to write one of her own. She describes teaching as her passion and writing as her calling. Guidry says her book will help students understand real world events and will give them hope and purpose. She says the book gives a message of encouragment and drives home the point that the sky is the limit. Guidry also credits her son for giving her inspiration to write this book. "The President Looks Like Me", published by Bee's Ink, will be available online and in stores very soon. Guidry's second book is scheduled for release in Spring 2011.
