Stuff the Bus Food Drive brings in 30,000 items and $11,000 for M.I. Lewis Food Pantry

The totals are coming in and the annual Dickinson ISD Stuff the Bus Food Drive is a huge success! Students, staff and parents all got into the holiday spirit and gave very generously to donate to the M.I. Lewis Food Pantry. The donations stay local, benefitting families living within the Dickinson ISD boundaries.

The Dickinson High School Air Force Junior ROTC along with the district's Administration Building staff went from campus to campus collecting food yesterday. This year, we also opened up the drive to allow for monetary donations throughout the district. Preliminary totals show the district collected around 30,000 food items, plus approximately $11,000. The monetary donations will allow M.I. Lewis to purchase between $75,000 - $100,000 worth of food, including perishable items like meat, through their relationship with the Houston Food Bank.

Dunbar Middle School collected the most items, while Hughes Road Elementary came in second place. A complete wrap-up of the Stuff the Bus Food Drive with campus totals and classroom winners will be included in the next Gator Bytes, the week of Nov. 29.
DHS Varsity Football preparing for Saturday playoff game against Port Arthur Memorial

The Dickinson High School Fighting Gator Varsity Football Team is moving into the second round of playoffs this week after a huge 31-14 victory this past Friday night against Fort Bend Elkins. The win allows the Gators to keep moving in the playoffs and take on Port Arthur Memorial at 6 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 20 at Stallworth Stadium, located at 2509 E. Archer Road in Baytown. The Gators will be the home team at Saturday's game.

Advance tickets can be purchased from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily through this Friday, Nov. 19 at the DHS Field House. Advance ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets purchased at the gate Saturday night are $8 each.
Thanksgiving Holidays next week

All Dickinson ISD campuses will be closed the week of Nov. 22-26 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Dickinson ISD wishes all students, staff and their families a safe and enjoyable week off with family and friends.
