DHS Marching Band earns Division I rating;
performing at Area 1:30 p.m. Saturday It is an exciting day for the Dickinson High School Marching Band today after they received "straight 1" ratings at UIL Region Marching Contest Tuesday night in Pearland. The scores earned them an overall Division 1 rating and the opportunity to advance to the UIL Area Marching Contest this Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Galena Park ISD Stadium. The stadium is located at 15025 Wallisville Road. The DHS Band is scheduled to perform at 1:30 p.m. Saturday as part of the preliminary competition which consists of 30 bands performing throughout the day. After the last band performs at 5:45 p.m., the 10 bands advancing to the finals competition will be announced. The finals competition begins at 7:30 p.m. At the end of the evening, six of the 10 bands from the finals will be chosen to advance to the UIL State Marching Competition to be held Nov. 1-2 in San Antonio. The DHS Gator Band is under the direction of Mr. Trevor Braselton. The community is encouraged to come out and support our DHS Gator Band at Area competition. Go Gators! |
