Bullying Awareness Forum
for Parents planned for October 28

Dickinson ISD will host a Bullying Awareness Forum for Parents from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Thursday, October 28 at the McAdams Junior High Auditorium. Featured keynote speaker Ginger Robinson will talk to parents about "Communicating in Times of Conflict," which will include discussion about personality types, parenting styles and classroom conflict management tools and how parents can provide their children with "bully-proof" protection.

Other topics to be addressed include how to detect bullying, cyber-bullying, warning signs that a child is being bullied, bullying in and out of school and how parents can help their children make healthy choices.

October is recognized as National Bullying Prevention Month to raise awareness of bullying prevention.
MJHS Volleyball Teams sponsor "Pink-Out" to raise money for breast cancer awareness

It was a "Lady Gator Pink-Out" at McAdams Junior High recently as the volleyball teams wore pink shirts in a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The eighth grade team, pictured to the right, held their fundraiser at the Oct. 7 home game and raised $112.76.

The seventh grade team's fundraiser will be held this Thursday, Oct. 14 when the team takes on Berry Miller at 4:30 p.m. at MJHS. Everyone is encouraged to wear pink and support the MJHS Lady Gators at the game. The team will be collecting donations for their breast cancer awareness fundraiser.

Target-League City store donates
books to K.E. Little library

Last Friday, K.E. Little Elementary had some very giving community members on campus. The school was nominated by Target, off of FM 646 in League City, to receive a library makeover grant.  The grant gave the school $500 to put toward new books, in hopes of stocking up the library. Several Target employees were on hand to present the school with the new books. K.E. Little now has 123 new books on the shelves for the students to enjoy.
