Thought of the Month...
"Friendship is unnecessary, like
philosophy, like art . . . it has no survival value; rather it is one of those
things that give value to survival."

Did You Know...
leisure Internet browsing increases productivity? People who surf the Internet for fun at work are nearly 10% more productive than those who do not, as long as the time they spend browsing is less than 20% of the total time in the office. Taking a short break lets the mind rest and leads to higher overall concentration.

Will Health Care Reform the World, or
Will the World Reform Health Care? ................................................................................................
We all know that health care in America is headed for some rocky times.
The Obama administration has proposed a solution that will 1) reform the health
care system by "expanding coverage, improving quality, lowering costs, and
honoring patient choice," and 2) promote scientific and technological
advancements, and 3) improve preventative care.
Sounds good in theory, right? Let's look at the pros and cons of
overhauling the current system.
Pros
Obama's plan is centered around
giving people choices. He wants to give the American people access to both
private and national health care plans.
If he were to overhaul the system, ideally, Obama would want the following
changes to take place:
No American would be turned down for
pre-existing health conditions.Premiums, deductibles and co pays would be
more affordable. All children will have some type of health
care coverage.
Employers
would be responsible for contributing towards an employees' health care
plan. If they do not subsidize private health care for their employees, a
percentage of their payroll will be contributed towards the national plan.
Cons
Perhaps the biggest
complaint against Obama's health care reform is centered around how he will
fund these enormous changes. He plans to do so by taxing the wealthiest of
Americans. He also plans to tap into the emergency health care funds that each
state has in reserve to pay for uninsured medical costs. In addition, the following
would be considered cons to his health care overhaul:
The plan is not comprehensive.
The plan is not universal.
(The above information regarding the proposed health care reform is accurate as of August 2009, there may have been changes made to the proposed bill since the gathering of this research.)
