Information About EnOcean Alliance
The EnOcean Alliance is a consortium of companies dedicated to the advancement of self-powered interoperable wireless building control systems. Alliance innovations create interoperable standard solutions helping to make buildings more energy efficient, flexible and cost effective. For more information, visit the Web site at http://www.enocean-alliance.org.

Information About EnOcean Technology
EnOcean's simple yet intelligent, self-powered wireless switches and sensors are powered by energy drawn from movement, light or even changes in temperature rather than batteries. This harvested energy is used for transmitting sensor data within a building to control lighting, blinds, heating or air conditioning without the need for cabling. In addition to its eco-friendliness, the technology is easily installed and maintenance-free, ensuring unparalleled flexibility at the lowest investment and operational cost for sustainable buildings.

MK Electric's extends 'self-powered' wireless Echo finishes for both inside and out

Greetings!,

The EnOcean Alliance was founded by seven companies over a year ago for the purpose of establishing EnOcean wireless technology worldwide as a standard for sustainable building, thus enabling the creation of a wide selection of fully interoperable, wireless products. We're making fast progress towards achieving this objective. A growing number of companies are joining the Alliance, and more and more EnOcean-enabled products are appearing on the market. Their uniqueness is also receiving due recognition - products from Alliance promoters Leviton and MK-Honeywell recently won a number of awards for instance. In the meantime the EnOcean Alliance counts more than 120 members, and the first EnOcean Alliance specification is due for publication soon. This will continue to ensure that EnOcean-enabled devices from a variety of manufacturers are able to work together seamlessly. It's the first step undertaken by the Alliance towards formal recognition of EnOcean technology as an international standard.

It's especially rewarding to see how an increasing number of Alliance members are cooperating, developing products together, or flying the EnOcean Alliance flag in a combined appearance at shows - like Distech Controls, Ivory Egg, PEHA and EnOcean GmbH at this year's M&E on October 7-8 in London Olympia (booth C105).

I'm sure that together we can achieve much more in the future too, if we continue to pursue our "mission." Finally I'd like to invite you once again to the 4th official members' meeting in Phoenix (USA), scheduled for November 9-10, 2009, the days before the Greenbuild show.

Best regards,

Graham Martin

Chairman & CEO EnOcean Alliance

Switzerland: TAC building management system and EnOcean help maximize comfort, convenience and efficiency at Basel's General Vocational College

FrankSupported by a teaching staff of 250 persons, the General Vocational College in the Swiss city of Basel offers vocational training and further education for some 4000 students in 50 professions. The college campus, designed in the 1950s and in the meantime a listed property, was brought right up-to-date in the course of extensive technical refurbishment. EnOcean's self-powered wireless technology was selected by system integrator Selmoni Ingenieur AG to satisfy the objectives set by Basel Corporation for energy efficiency, sustainability, comfort and convenience.

Switzerland: Reliving tradition with modern technology

FrankEnOcean based products from Omnio has been chosen for flexibility, safety and energy efficiency in a 500-year-old timber-frame house in Embrach, Switzerland. Restoring listed buildings is often a very complicated process because strict legal requirements mostly apply. The Erny-Grob family in Switzerland was not deterred when it undertook restoration of its timber-frame house from the 16th century in Embrach.

USA: Automated HVAC Controls Neutralize Highest Electricity Prices (per kWh) in the United States

FrankIt's not all sun and games for hotel owners in Hawaii. In addition to dealing with an ailing economy, hotel owners in Hawaii are forced to factor the nation's highest electricity rates into their accounting spreadsheets. According to the US Department of Energy, the base cost of electricity in Hawaii weighs in at a staggering USD 0.30/kWh rate (nearly 3x the national average). The high cost is attributed to the fact that in Hawaii, power is produced by burning imported fuel. Rather than rest idle and allow the cost of electricity to consume profits; the Kahana Falls management team set out to save money while concurrently conserving their state's natural resources. The solution was to install energy harvesting wireless HVAC controls from Echoflex Solutions and Illumra into each hotel room.
