NEWCOMERS BRUNCH
All newcomers, i.e. anyone who has recently begun coming to Trinity, are invited to a brunch this Sunday, August 7, in the parish library immediately following the 8 and 10 am services. This will be an opportunity for introductions concerning Trinity's ministries and parish life. We plan on offering this brunch every 3-4 months. Please plan to attend!
WINE AND CHEESE
After the 5:00pm service on August 6, we will have our monthly wine and cheese reception in the parish library. Whether you are a regular Saturday evening attendee or not, please join us!
EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY
Education for Ministry, is a distance learning theological education program of the School of Theology at the University of the South, will be offered for the second year at Trinity beginning in the fall. Participants commit one year at a time to meet regularly in seminars led by a trained mentor during which participants study the Old and New Testaments, Church history, theology and ethics. *
The purpose of EFM is to provide a comprehensive, experiential education in the foundations and message of our Christian faith to the laity of the church. Many desire to increase their knowledge of the Christian heritage. Some want to continue their Christian formation or they wish to prepare for special lay ministries.
Each group of six to twelve students is led by a mentor and meets weekly to reflect theologically, discuss the material they have read, and worship together. Students follow a weekly lesson and study guide. No papers or tests are given. You receive what you invest in terms of reading and study.
For more information, contact Fr. Jacobs at 772-567-1146, who will be the mentor for EFM groups. He has been involved with EFM as a student and mentor since 1991.
FOOD SUNDAY
When the first of the month falls on a Monday it is always confusing as to WHICH Sunday is officially FOOD SUNDAY.
Here's the answer:
The weekend of August 6 & 7 will be the "official" Food Sunday. BUT, as you may have noticed, the baskets are already filling. There is no law stating that you cannot bring food any time! So check the flyers this week for the specials on the staples you buy for yourself, and BE GENEROUS!

NOTES ON THE NOTES
This Sunday, our worship will be enriched with the sound of the oboe, played by Debbie Pillorgé. The prelude will comprise a short suite: Besozzi's "Largetto" is a relatively somber piece in c minor; Teleman's "Ayre" in c major, in contrast, is a more sprightly work. The offertory will feature Tomaso Albinoni's "Adagio," a haunting work of grace and refined beauty. Jean Joseph Mouret's "Rondeau" will the be postlude. This work may be familiar to many, since it was used as theme music for the PBS program Masterpiece Theater Thanks again to Debbie Pillorgé for sharing her beautiful gifts with Trinit.
WITH MUSIC IN MIND:
The Trinity Episcopal Choir will take a well-deserved vacation in the month of August. Regular choir rehearsals will resume on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Music Building. The Trinity Choir always welcomes new members.
The Trinity Handbell Choir will resume rehearsals on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Trinity is hoping to grow this enjoyable and gratifying music ministry and is looking for additional members. The ability to read music is helpful but not required.
ROSE BYRON
Rose Byron, our housekeeper, is the excited new owner of a Habitat House, and will be moving into her home in September. Because Rose and her 3 children have been living at the Samaritan Center shelter, the family is starting housekeeping from "scratch". Everything is needed: furniture, all kitchen supplies (dishes, pots & pans, utensils, etc.), sheets, towels, blankets, lamps - the list just keeps going. If you have any household items that will help Rose and her children set up housekeeping, please call Marie at the Church office to coordinate. Everything will be most appreciated!
