NEWCOMERS BRUNCH

All newcomers, i.e. anyone who has recently begun coming to Trinity, are invited to a brunch next Sunday, August 7, in the parish library immediately following the 8 and 10 am services. This will be an opportunity for introductions concerning Trinity's ministries and parish life. We plan on offering this brunch every 3-4 months. Please plan to attend!

WINE AND CHEESE

After the 5:00pm service on August 6, we will have our monthly wine and cheese reception in the parish library. Whether you are a regular Saturday evening attendee or not, please join us!

EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY

Education for Ministry, is a distance learning theological education program of the School of Theology at the University of the South, will be offered for the second year at Trinity beginning in the fall. Participants commit one year at a time to meet regularly in seminars led by a trained mentor during which participants study the Old and New Testaments, Church history, theology and ethics. *

The purpose of EFM is to provide a comprehensive, experiential education in the foundations and message of our Christian faith to the laity of the church. Many desire to increase their knowledge of the Christian heritage. Some want to continue their Christian formation or they wish to prepare for special lay ministries.

Each group of six to twelve students is led by a mentor and meets weekly to reflect theologically, discuss the material they have read, and worship together. Students follow a weekly lesson and study guide. No papers or tests are given.  You receive what you invest in terms of reading and study.

For more information, contact Fr. Jacobs at 772-567-1146, who will be the mentor for EFM groups. He has been involved with EFM as a student and mentor since 1991.

ACOLYTE TRAINING

Attention all teens of Trinity!! If any of you have ever considered joining our wonderful team of Acolytes, now is the time to come and speak with us and see what it's all about. For the entire month of July, there will be a brief acolyte training being offered for approximately 20 minutes after each Sunday service.  Come to the sanctuary immediately after the service and learn what it's all about.  For those teens entering high school, this rewarding volunteer service is also applicable towards your credited volunteer hours for school.  The job of acolyte is an important call to service that should be considered with careful thought and devotion.  Once you speak with our fellow teens already on the team, you will see that it is also an opportunity to enjoy the service in a more meaningful and rewarding way.

SYMPHONY OF THE AMERICAS CONCERT TO BENEFIT THE CULTURAL COUNCIL OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY
THURSDAY, 28 JULY 2011 - 7:30 P.M.
MEET THE ARTISTS - 6:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

On Thursday, 28 July, Trinity will host the 20th Anniversary Symphony of the Americas Summerfest, sponsored by American Airlines and Trinity Episcopal Church. The concert will feature the Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra, founded in Miskolc, Hungary in 1981. The orchestra has concertized extensively in Europe, the Far East, and the U.S.A.  In addition, the concert will feature violinist Laszlo Pap, a graduate of the renowned Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.

The concert is a fundraiser for the Cultural Council of Indian River Country, a organization dedicated to "nurturing a cooperative environment in which cultural and educational organizations and individuals may thrive and thereby enrich the quality of life in Indian River County for all residents and visitors."  Trinity is a member of the Cultural Council and enjoys its cooperation in advertising upcoming musical events as well as networking with other musical organizations in Indian River County.

The concert program will feature the Concerto for Four Violins, Cello and Strings (RV 580) by Antonio Vivaldi, the Divertimento in D (K 136) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the captivating "Meditation" from Thaïs by Jules Massenet.  Other programmed works include early music for violin by Vitali and Boccherini and the Contrabajeando and Libertango by Argentine tango composer Ástor Piazolla.  The program concludes with the Divertimento No. 1, an exciting work by composer Leo Weiner, who captures the soundscape of his Hungarian homeland - and that of the Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra.

Tickets are available through the Cultural Council of Indian River County (772.770.4857 or www.cultural-council.org) or at the door.  Tickets cost $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door.

A "Meet the Artists" social will be held at 6:30 in the Trinity Episcopal Great Hall.  Light refreshments will be served.  Patrons will have the opportunity to converse with the program artists from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Please come and support the important work of the Cultural Council, and encourage your friends to do the same!

MIDSUMMER MEDLEY TO BENEFIT THE VERO BEACH CHORAL SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP FUND
 FRIDAY, 29 JULY, 2011, 6:00 P.M. - TRINITY EPISCOPAL GREAT HALL
***RESERVATION DEADLINE TOMORROW***

On Friday 29 July, Trinity will host the Midsummer Medley, a fundraiser for the Vero Beach Choral Society Scholarship Fund.  The Vero Beach Choral Society (VBCS) is our resident community choral ensemble, rehearsing weekly and singing two concerts per year at Trinity. Additionally, Trinity Organist and Choirmaster Jason Hobratschk has been engaged as the Assistant Director of the VBCS and will direct a select women's ensemble at the Fall concert.
In addition to an organic meal, the fundraiser will feature entertainment by VBCS scholarship recipients vocalist Danya Etter, soprano, and Emilio Rutllant, flute.

Separately, at the event, goodie-filled tote bags will go up for sale to benefit the Vero Beach Choral Society's Scholarship Endowment Fund. Each earth-friendly tote bag will contain a 2011-2012 season pass to the Choral Society's winter and spring concerts and a dress rehearsal to see its directors "in action." Also in the tote will be CDs of the Choral Society's 2010-2011 season and a chance to win gift certificates at three popular eateries. Season tickets will double as chances toward a $75 dinner at the Ocean Grill, the drawing for which will take place at the spring concert reception. One $50 gift certificate to The French Quarter and two $10 gift certificates to the Italian Grill will randomly be placed in the first 50 tote bags sold.  Each of the first 50 totes will also contain a $10 gift card good at Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts in the Miracle Mile Plaza. Only 100 of the tote bags are available, each selling for $100.

Admission to the dinner and performance is $10. Tickets can be purchased online between now and July 22 at the Choral Society website at verobeachchoralsociety.org. Up until July 22, a seat can also be reserved (payment at the door) by emailing the Choral Society at info@verobeachchoralsociety.org. An abbreviated reservation form is also available at the website for mailing or faxing in reservations. For further information, or to reserve a seat by telephone, call Deborah Borfitz at 772-569-8165.

FOOD SUNDAY

When the first of the month falls on a Monday it is always confusing as to WHICH Sunday is officially FOOD SUNDAY.
Here's the answer:

The weekend of August 6 & 7 will be the "official" Food Sunday. BUT, as you may have noticed, the baskets are already filling. There is no law stating that you cannot bring food any time! So check the flyers this week AND next for the specials on the staples you buy for yourself, and BE GENEROUS!

ROSE BYRON

Rose Byron, our housekeeper, is the excited new owner of a Habitat House, and will be moving into her home in September.  Because Rose and her 3 children have been living at the Samaritan Center shelter, the family is starting housekeeping from "scratch".  Everything is needed:  furniture, all kitchen supplies (dishes, pots & pans, utensils, etc.), sheets, towels, blankets, lamps - the list just keeps going.  If you have any household items that will help Rose and her children set up housekeeping, please call Marie at the Church office to coordinate.  Everything will be most appreciated!
