NO THURSDAY HOLY EUCHARIST SERVICE
There will be No Thursday Holy Eucharist/Healing Service or Bible Study June 30th and July 7th while Fr. Jacobs is out of town.
EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY
Education for Ministry, is a distance learning theological education program of the School of Theology at the University of the South, will be offered for the second year at Trinity beginning in the fall. Participants commit one year at a time to meet regularly in seminars led by a trained mentor during which participants study the Old and New Testaments, Church history, theology and ethics. *
The purpose of EFM is to provide a comprehensive, experiential education in the foundations and message of our Christian faith to the laity of the church. Many desire to increase their knowledge of the Christian heritage. Some want to continue their Christian formation or they wish to prepare for special lay ministries.
Each group of six to twelve students is led by a mentor and meets weekly to reflect theologically, discuss the material they have read, and worship together. Students follow a weekly lesson and study guide. No papers or tests are given. You receive what you invest in terms of reading and study.
For more information, contact Fr. Jacobs at 772-567-1146, who will be the mentor for EFM groups. He has been involved with EFM as a student and mentor since 1991.
FOOD SUNDAY
Another month has passed, and Food Sunday is upon us! Canned beans, canned vegetables, Chef Boy-Ar-Dee products, pastas, sauce, rice, and cereal are always welcome. If you watch the flyers for specials you can double your gifts to the Salvation Army with the same amount of money. Remember, you may be the difference between an empty plate and a good meal for a neighbor you don't know. Please don't forget to bring your gifts this weekend! Yes, you may indeed put a check in the plate made out to The Salvation Army and write "food shelf" on the memo line. THANK YOU!

ACOLYTE TRAINING
Attention all teens of Trinity!! If any of you have ever considered joining our wonderful team of Acolytes, now is the time to come and speak with us and see what it's all about. For the entire month of July, there will be a brief acolyte training being offered for approximately 20 minutes after each Sunday service. Come to the sanctuary immediately after the service and learn what it's all about. For those teens entering high school, this rewarding volunteer service is also applicable towards your credited volunteer hours for school. The job of acolyte is an important call to service that should be considered with careful thought and devotion. Once you speak with our fellow teens already on the team, you will see that it is also an opportunity to enjoy the service in a more meaningful and rewarding way.

NOTES ON THE NOTES
This weekend's prelude is a setting of "There is a Fountain Filled with Blood" by 20th-century blind French composer Jean Langlais (1907-1991). This work may not be what you expect - it's filled with challenging harmonies, yet is imbued with an overall sense of calm. As we celebrate our country's independence, we also remember the price paid for it. This work conjures the image of a quiet battlefield, hauntingly serene after the violent sacrifice made there. The postlude is Wilbur Held's (b. 1914) setting of "My Country, 'til of thee," a set of variations on the well-known tune.
SPACE COAST SYMPHONY- CATCH A GLIMPSE OF WHAT'S TO COME
17 JULY 2011 - 3:00 P.M. - COMMUNITY CHURCH OF VERO BEACH
Starting next September, Trinity will be the proud host of Vero Beach's newest symphony orchestra, the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra (SCSO). This exciting orchestra, under the baton of its 28-year old maestro Aaron Collins, will be giving nine concerts at Trinity next season. I've had the opportunity to hear SCSO on several occasions, and I was very impressed not only with the supreme musicality of the ensemble, but also the excitement and joy they bring to a concert.
On Sunday, 17 July, the SCSO will offer its next summertime concert at Community Church. The all-American program will feature Leonard Bernstein's Overture to Candide, music from George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess; and Gershwin's famous An American in Paris. In addition, the concert will feature the premiere of a new work by contemporary American composer John Ryther, his The Greatest Generation, a work honoring veterans of the World Wars.
Please come for a preview of the exciting things to come next season at Trinity! Tickets cost $20.00 at the door. Under a new "Symphony for Everyone" program, patrons who cannot afford the cost of a full-price ticket are able to pay what they are able. The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to bringing classical music to everyone, and next season Trinity will be part of this exciting new venture. I encourage you to go enjoy the show - and see the exciting things to come!
