FOOD SUNDAY
This coming weekend, May 8, is not only Mothers' Day but is also FOOD SUNDAY! Please remember that we all get hungry several times a day, and be a generous steward of that which God has entrusted to you. Without your help, someone here in Vero Beach will go without food for their family. Thank you for sharing!

This weekend is our annual United Thank Offering ingathering. Thank you very much for your contribution. Please use the UTO envelopes on the desk in the Narthex, if possible. If contributing by check, make it out to Trinity, with "UTO offering" on the memo line. There is a basket in the narthex, and also at the side door of the church for your contribution. You may also just drop your check in the offering plate, if you prefer. Your support is greatly appreciated. It will significantly impact human needs throughout the world.

NOTES ON THE NOTES
This Sunday's choral anthem is an English translation of the "Victimae paschali laudes," one of the oldest hymns of the church. The original chant dates from the 11th-century and is ascribed to Wipo of Burgundy who died around 1050. "Victimae paschali laudes" is a sequence, a chant sung before the proclamation of the Gospel, and is the source of our label for the "Sequence Hymn." This chant features dialogue between the men and women of the choir: the men inquire of Mary what she has seen, and Mary responds with the Easter story.

SATURDAY'S BLESSING OF ANIMALS
CHOIR MEMBER JOAN DE FRANCO
Last Saturday, April 30th, Fr. John Jacobs and Deacon Lew Gwyn participated in the Humane Society's annual Spring Blessing of the Animals. About 75 people were present with their dogs (this year we had no cats, birds, or exotic animals) for the Blessing Service. Everyone behaved very well.
Following the short program - including excellent music by musicians from the Vero Beach High School - all the dogs who came were individually blessed by Fr. John or Dn. Lew. Following the program under the pavilion, all the animals in the care of the Humane Society were blessed, with special prayers for adoption to good homes for those eligible. In total, over 250 animals, including rabbits, mice, tortoises, chickens, ducks, pigs and goats were properly blessed!
We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone who works with The Humany Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County. Theirs truly is a calling blessed by God!
PRAYERS ANSWERED
God always hears us when we pray. Quite often, we don't get the answer we hope for, but sometimes we do.
On Saturday April 30th, Fr. John and I participated in the Blessing of the Animals at The Humane Society on 77th St. In addition to the dogs people brought for individual blessing, we prayed for those animals awaiting adoption as well as those for whom adoption is not a possibility.
Among the difficult to place pets was a dog named "Diamond," who had been in the shelter for nine months, without anyone showing any interest in adopting her. I prayed specifically that God might find a loving home for Diamond.
On Monday, I got a phone call from the Humane Society - Diamond had been adopted! The lady who had been Diamond's special caregiver during the entire time she was there was clearly overcome with emotion and appreciation.
So when you pray, pray with the expectation that your prayers will not only be heard - they will be answered!
