November is Adopt A Senior Pet Month
Buddy and Holly
Buddy & Holly

Older bunnies are often overlooked but you just don't realize what you're missing!  Our older/senior bunnies are most often quieter, laid-back, neater and looking for some special love.  We are looking for homes with a family that will spoil them rotten because they've already had a rough life.  Remember that when you adopt from Rabbit Haven, you are helping two wonderful bunnies; the ones you take home with you, and the ones we are able to take in from other shelters and the public to fill in the newly opened space, so you're really saving more than just one or two lives.

We also have some special need bunnies that don't really have ongoing medical problems but may need special bedding, cut down litter boxes, etc.  They are still fully active and loving bunnies that need a home just as much as any of our other bunnies.  We will give you all the details of their special needs and help you with their care.

Join Us For Some Holiday Cheer!
Bunny stealing a cookie   Saturday, December 4th, from 3-5pm, join us at the Rabbit Haven in Gig Harbor for a cookie and ornament exchange. Come hang out with other bunny lovers and enjoy a cup of coffee or some hot cocoa, enjoy some tasty cookies, and even a glass of the vino if you're so inclined. Bring a plate of your favorite cookies and an ornament you'd like to trade. You'll get a chance to meet some of our volunteers and of course, lots of rabbits!

Please RSVP to Sue at 253-308-4206 by Wednesday, December 1st

Hope to see you there!
University of Victoria Rabbit Round-Up

Rabbit Haven has offered to host bunnies that have been living on the University of Victoria campus for many years. A decision was made by the university to remove all of the rabbits from the campus. Their solution was to trap and kill all of them. Several groups of bunny lovers came forward and coordinated a rescue plan. The rabbits were  trapped, spayed or neutered then transported to several sanctuaries in Canada and the USA.

100+ UVic bunnies arrived at Rabbit Haven for some rest and recuperation while waiting for transport to their forever homes. Most have moved on, but 45 bunnies applied to stay at Rabbit Haven and we agreed. One bunny was clearly a recent "dump" and wanted human attention. We brought Ace into the barn where he won our hearts and was recently adopted!

We're grateful that the Vancouver bunny lovers got involved and so happy we could help. Hey, did anyone check these guys' passports?

The Right Touch Can Do Wonders

Tellington TTouch is a gentle method used to quiet and convey body awareness to an animal.  Special touches direct the animal's body to relax, deepen respiration, and slow the heart rate.  In a calmer frame of mind, the animal is better able to cope with frightening situations.  The animal's confidence increases and decisions that are superior to fight, flight or freeze reactions are more likely to occur. This is a totally different way of touching - a kinder, gentler way, so to speak - and something the rabbit may never have experienced before.

Boys, Boys, Boys...

Boy do we have the greatest boys looking for homes.
Skippy & Triscuit
Skippy & Triscuit

Skippy & Triscuit are the sweetest brothers you could ever meet, shy at first but quickly realize you'll pet them. Then there is our BIG boy, Freddy. He has attitude and really likes to run around. We have two FULL energy crazy boys.  Jester a binky master, and Calvin who can jump high buildings in a single bound. Copper loves to be held and will close his eyes and melt in your arms. Tom & Jerry are our special needs boys because they have a few leg problems but it doesn't slow them down. Then there's the four boys, Crosby, Stills, Nash and ... Douglas. They could be separated into pairs, or even better if this foursome can be adopted together.

Please visit our adoption page to learn more about these wonderful bunnies and if you would like to come meet them, please contact Angie at [email protected].
