A NOTE FROM PASTOR TIM

In 25 Words or Less...

At a recent session meeting, I asked the elders to each write, in 25 words or less, what they believe to be the mission of Faith. Here are their responses.

The Mission of Faith Presbyterian Church is...

  1. To be a welcoming place, where, to borrow from our pastor, the afflicted will be comforted and the comfortable will be afflicted!
  2. Be an open community, accepting and nurturing; willing to disagree agreeably. To be a congregation that stands up for those without acceptance in other congregations.
  3. Bring Christ to our community and help us develop the role of Christ in our personal lives and our families.
  4. To be a caring church in the community; opening its doors to lead the congregation in following Christ's leadership.
  5. To celebrate Christ in a loving and welcoming faith-based community.
  6. A place to worship God.
  7. To provide a place and an opportunity to find and understand God's grace and love for us. To provide a place for growth and fellowship.
  8. To provide a place where we can worship Jesus Christ and also provide an opportunity for members of the community to experience Christian fellowship.
  9. To bring the Christian word of God to all receptive people in our community. To work together, regardless of individual thoughts and positions.
  10. To provide a place where SW Florida can come for enrichment of the body, mind, and spirit.
  11. To be open and accepting of all people. To teach God's grace and love.
  12. To be a beacon in the community we are trying to reach. Unbiased, unprejudiced, open-minded, and welcoming to all who wish to attend our many opportunities.
  13. To serve the Faith Community!
  14. To be a welcoming church that includes all who have a common belief in Jesus Christ and where our beliefs can differ on everything else.
  15. A portal to shine the light of Christ throughout this community.
  16. To grow spiritually together as we grow in our relationship with Christ.
  17. To reach people and inspire them to change their behavior in conformity with Jesus' teachings.
  18. To support and inspire our community's spiritual growth.
  19. To be a caring congregation to ALL people who attend this church.
  20. To share the love of Christ in thought, word, and deed to all people regardless of race, creed, color, gender, or sexual orientation.
  21. To enable an environment where you are valued as an individual, spiritually and socially. All you have to do is show up.

My question to you is this: do you think they have captured the spirit of what God is calling us to do?
