A NOTE FROM PASTOR TIM

The Aurora Borealis

I remember as a child standing at end of my driveway, looking north and seeing the sky exploding with light. It was amazing! Throughout my childhood, there were other occasions when the "lights" would come back, and I would again stand transfixed, gape-jawed, struck silent in awe.

And then the lights disappeared. It has been a long, long time since I saw them last. When people talk about the Aurora Borealis, I believe it to be true. But for me, it feels like it existed in another lifetime. Do people still see things like this? Do my children and my grandchildren ever see such wonder?

Sometimes when I walk the dog at night, I feel a hint of what I felt long ago. I see the starry night and sense the bedspread of heaven covering me, and I wonder... I wonder what it was like that night when the shepherds were watching their flocks by night and "the glory of the Lord shone around them."
