The Glory of the Lord
Many still consider Thomas Aquinas, born 800 years ago, to be the greatest theologian that ever lived. His crowning work, Summa Theologica, attempted to bring 'all the truth that was known in all the world' together in one work and so bring all of knowledge "under God". What a project! There were 38 treatises, 3,000 articles, and 10,000 objections.
Yet one day he abruptly stopped his work. During worship one morning he said that he "caught a glimpse of eternity" and suddenly realized that all efforts to speak of God were puny and fell far, far short of God's glory. And that was the end of the project. He died a year later without ever adding another word. As he told his secretary, "...all I have written seems as so much straw."
Have you ever beheld the glory, the majesty, the wonder of the Lord? I would love to hear about it!
In faith,

Pastor Tim
