 Laughter, the Best Medicine

As I write, Egypt is in crisis and a monster storm is bearing down on the Midwest. So how about some humor?

One day a man walking across a bridge saw another man standing on the edge about to jump. He immediately ran over and said, "Stop!  Don't do it!"

"Why shouldn't I?" asked the would-be jumper.

"Well, there's so much to live for," the would-be rescuer blurted out.

Jumper -"Like what?"

Rescuer - "Well," he stammered, "ah...are you a religious person?"

Jumper - "Yes."

Rescuer - "Me too...Christian or Jewish?"

Jumper - "Christian."

Rescuer - "Me too...are you Methodist or Presbyterian or Lutheran or what?"

Jumper - "Presbyterian."

Rescuer - "Wow. Me, too...are you Presbyterian Church USA, Presbyterian Church of America, or Orthodox Presbyterian?"

Jumper - "Presbyterian Church, USA."

Rescuer - "Me, too!  Are you Reformed Presbyterian, Reformation of l774, or Associate Presbyterian, Reformation of 1753?"

Jumper -  "Associate Presbyterian, Reformation of 1753."

To which the rescuer yelled, "Die, you heretic!" and pushed him off the bridge.

Faith Ponderings...

"At the end of life, we will not be judged by

how many diplomas we have received,

how much money we have made or

how many great things we have done.

We will be judged by

"I was hungry and you gave me food to eat.

I was naked and you clothed me.

I was homeless and you took me in"

Following a salad and dessert buffet, Dr. Thomas and Mrs. Rosalie Kreulen will treat us to another outstanding travelogue, "View Through the Lens." Although there is no admission charge, we ask that all attending bring one or more non-perishable food items to help restock our We Care pantry.

Doors open at 11:30, with luncheon at noon. So that we will have adequate places set, please notify your circle leader or Libby Brasfield, 941-575-8834 (do not use 1 when dialing), if you plan to attend.
