It had been a long time since I had heard the song, but it was playing on an 'oldies' station recently,
"What's it all about, Alfie?
Is it just for the moment we live?
What's it all about?"

Do you remember the film? It won the Cannes Film Festival in the 1966. It tells the story of a promiscuous man named Alfie (Michael Cain) who drifted from relationship to relationship, never able to commit, until finally, at the end of the film, he meets someone (Shelley Winters). He is now ready to commit, to settle down, to build a life of meaning and purpose...but the day he chooses to suggest all this to her, he finds her in bed with another man.
And so the film ends with this poignant scene...Alfie looks into the camera and asks the question, "What's it all about?"
