Ask Michelle Churchill, director of the Faith Center and Families Ministries, "How many days?" and she will quickly give you an answer.  I believe the current answer is '32.' For those of us not in the know, it refers to the major sporting event in the world; an event of such popularity that it captures the attention of billions of people - or just about everyone outside of the United States.
 
This brings me to the subject of American parochialism. Recently, Michelle, in anticipation of teaching Cricket to the "Faith Escapes," went on-line to Wal-Mart to find a cricket bat. What she got was a book about 'crickets' and a book about 'bats' (the insect and mammal). Thus came an e-mail from Michelle, in which she opined, "Does this large multi-national corporation not realize that Cricket is the second largest sport in the world after Football (soccer!)."
 
Alas, the world does not end at our shores...
