Disinformation
We form opinions based on information. That's the problem! Much of the information that we receive is unreliable. This is especially true for the Internet where there is no accountability and where rumor and innuendo masquerade as fact. As we approach the July, 219th General Assembly meeting of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Minneapolis, let me assure you that all of the following are NOT true:
- The PCUSA has not declared war on Israel
- We have not abandoned the Presbyterian form of government in favor of congregationalism
- Half of all Presbyterian pastors do NOT believe that all religions are equal
This brings me to the Presbyterian Outlook, an independent magazine that has long served the faithful, by seeking to provide accurate information. In advance of the Assembly, the Outlook is offering a 3-month trial subscription for $12.77 per subscription (let me know if you are interested). Remember, people do the best they can given their information...bad information, and God help our Republic! |

"We should be seekers of truth, seekers of wisdom, not consumers (or purveyors) of propaganda - even if it comes from members of our own people party and people who quote a lot of Bible verses (often out of context)."
