The ONLY Way?

One of the most perplexing issues in Christianity is the uniqueness of Jesus Christ for the salvation of the world. Christians (using Biblical support) answer this question in different ways:
  1. Jesus Christ is the only way. There is no salvation except through personal belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior (John 14.6).
  2. There are 'other sheep that are not of this fold' (John 10.16).
  3. Other Christians simply say this is 'above my pay grade,' and I 'will let God sort it all out.'
If you too have been perplexed by this thorny issue, let me share with you where your fellow Presbyterians stand.
  • Option One - 39% of all Presbyterians agree.
  • Option Two - 36% of Presbyterians agree.
  • Option Three - the remaining 25%
My opinion? I believe that without Jesus Christ there is no salvation. I believe that on Calvary, God was broken and poured out for this fallen world, and in Jesus' resurrection God destroyed death. It is Jesus Christ who saves the world; without Jesus - no salvation.  Then who is and who is not saved - whose confession and whose life demonstrates receptivity to God and whose life rejects God? Here I fall back on the sovereignty of God. God will choose; and I am joyful in knowing that the one who chooses is a God of love.

Mission Update ...
HAITI
Thank you for your special gifts for Haiti relief. The  Presbyterian Church (USA) has made a recent gift of $500,000 to purchase seeds and tools for farmers who are trying to feed the hundreds of thousands of displaced Haitians who have left Port-au-Prince. Also, because of your generosity, Session voted to make a gift of $10,000 to the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Harry Chapin is the primary source of food for our We Care program (as well as the other food banks in Lee County). Harry Chapin is able to take $1 and purchase $6 worth of food.
