Faith Focus with Pastor Tim

"...that's what makes the difference."

I want to share with you again the story that I told yesterday at the Easer services.

A remarkable church, with a remarkable ministry, the Abyssinian Baptist Church is located in the heart of New York City's darkness. Surrounded by poverty, drug dealing, and prostitution, the church has nonetheless organized a bank for the neighborhood and developed key ministries for children.

A reporter from the New York Times interviewed the pastor, Calvin Butts, and while acknowledging that the church had strong programs, said that he didn't see what difference any of that is making. The reporter then asked,"What enables you and your folks to keep going?"

Pastor Butts responded,"We've read the Bible, and we know how it ends, and that's what makes the difference."

We have also read the Bible. We have celebrated Easter. And that makes all the difference...
