Why is it that churches are declining in wealthy countries and flourishing in those marked by extreme poverty, intense conflict, and escalating disease?
 
Why is it that each Sunday far more Presbyterians worship in Korea than in the United Sates? Why do more Anglicans attend church in each of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda than did Anglicans in Britain and Episcopalians in the United States combined?
 
Why is it that more believers attended church in China last Sunday than in all of so-called Christian Europe?

I am sure that the answer(s) is not easy or clear, but to ask "why?" and wrestle with the implications will be, I believe, a teaching moment for us all.
