Faith Center
Thank You!

It has been a large project!  Consider our accomplishments:
  • Purchased 6 single/multi-family dwellings, four of which have been removed, one is the current youth-house, while the five-plex provides rental income
  • Purchased 9 lots (and sold a portion of one lot to the city for the new fire station)
  • Created a large parking lot
  • Built a functional garage/storage area
  • Purchased and installed a new organ
  • Built a beautiful multi-purpose 17,000 square feet 'Faith Center'
  • Landscaped the entire area, including an attractive commons area
  • And, as I write, the furnishings are arriving for the Center.

Importantly, we stayed within our budget! 60% of all church construction projects go over budget by more than 30%. There are many, many people to thank:

  • Session for following a careful financial plan that held up, even under the pressure brought on by the recession
  • The building committee for staying within budget by repeatedly asking the question, "What do we need as opposed to what do we want?"
  • A Commission of Session that acted as our liaison with the contractor
  • Karla, our Business Manager, who often worked Saturdays and evenings to make it all happen
  • And, of course, to the congregation and friends of Faith for your support.

I hesitate to mention individual church members for recognition as the list will be incomplete - but there are several who stand out: Dave Barton, Maurice Gebhardt, Paul Perisho, Steve Riggs, John Silver, and Bob Thomas. (Note that they are in alphabetical order because each one of them walked "much farther" than the second mile.)

What is next? We need to have a party to celebrate. Please mark Tuesday, September 22, on your calendar for the building dedication.

And,  we need to pay down the mortgage! From this point forward, your building-fund gifts will reduce the principal of our loan.  In time, we will be able to finish the project by remodeling/expanding the sanctuary.

As always - people are our ministry. The buildings/facilities serve God by meeting the needs of God's people.
Blessings to all,

Faith Ponderings ...

"Bless this house, Oh Lord we pray
Make it safe by night and day...
Bless the people here within
Keep them pure and free from sin
Bless us all that we may be
Fit Oh Lord to dwell with thee
Bless us all that we, one day, may dwell
Oh Lord, we pray."
