Risk and Trust
 
The hang-glider rides the tramway to the top of Sandia Peak overlooking Albuquerque. Then in a moment of sheer exhilaration leaps off the mountain into the clear air. It's about risk, and it is about trust - trusting the thermal currents coming up from the valley floor to sustain the flight.

Each year 4,000 people take up the high-risk sport of rock climbing; twenty-five thousand shoot the rapids of the Colorado River. Each year people take the risk to get married and start a family. Each year entrepreneurs start new businesses, sometimes with great success and sometimes not.

When people outside the church community ask me why we are in a major building program in a time of national and local recession, I smile and say, it's about risk and it is about trust. We have calculated our risk; we do not calculate our trust.

When is the last time you took a risk?

5:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.
The musical will begin at
6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
 
Tickets are
$5 per person or
$20 family max
(God's Angels and children under 5 are free).
