Whatever your political stripe, please pause and say a prayer for President Barak Obama. There are some who would say, "Well, if the stimulus package doesn't work, we will have a new administration in four years." If the package doesn't work, we will be in such a world of hurt that anyone in their right mind would not want to be president in four years. These are difficult times for our nation. We need to be united in prayer. Will the package work - God only knows. (And, unfortunately, I am reminded of humorist P. J. O'Rourke's quip, "Giving money and power to government is like giving whisky and car keys to teenage boys.") We are bombarded each week by so many numbers and statistics - increasing unemployment, new home foreclosures, shrinking economies in other nations - that we can become numb. Remember, behind each statistic is a person. People are hurting. People are afraid. Please pray for our nation and our president. |

In Faith,
Your Pastor and Friend
|
The hatred which divides nation from nation, race from race, class from class,
Father forgive.
The covetous desires of men and nations to possess what is not their own,
Father forgive.
The greed which exploits the labours of men, and lays waste the earth,
Father, forgive.
Our envy of the welfare and happiness of others,
Father, forgive.
Our indifference to the plight of the homeless and the refugee,
Father, forgive.
The lust which uses for ignoble ends the bodies of men and women,
Father, forgive.
The pride which leads to trust in ourselves and not in God,
Father, forgive.
Father Forgive,
