Elder Economic Security Standard Reveals New Levels of Need and Hardship among Older Adults in Michigan

Michigan's older adults are more likely to be poor and at greater risk of not being able to afford their basic living expenses than U.S. census data indicate.  According to a recent analysis comparing income data for Michigan seniors (people 65 and older) to the Elder Economic Security Standard™ Index, 37% of Michigan's seniors are living at or below a level of basic economic security.

New Training for ELM Staff!

Elder Law of Michigan is proud to announce that on July 14th, 2011 Sandra Wisnewski, an Attorney for the Mid-America Pension Right Project, officially completed Discrimination with Foreclosure Prevention Programs training through National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC). The training focused on issues concerning fraud prevention, equality to older adults, lending abuse, and mortgage fraud. "I am thankful for the opportunity to attend the training", Mrs. Wisnewski gratefully states.

 

At Elder Law of Michigan we understand the importance of expanding our knowledge in all areas that we serve and through our staff of professionals, we are able to continue to provide accurate information and advice to our clients.
