Featured NH CCC Partner: Melissa McAllister
|
Melissa McAllister, of Concord, has been a member of the Collaboration's volunteer board for six years, and serves on the Colorectal Cancer Advisory Board as part of the Primary Prevention Workgroup. She is also a member of the NH CCC Communications Committee. As a long-time volunteer and member of the Planning Committee for busy gearing up for the event on Sunday, October 14th. |
For Melissa, volunteerism is a family affair. Her son Bryce, turning 16 this month, and daughter Stephanie, age 22, have participated in the Making Strides walk in Concord for 11 years. The event has special meaning for Melissa and her family this year; her sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer a month after the Making Strides walk last year.
Some members of the Collaboration may recall that Melissa's son Bryce was featured in a news story for his efforts spearheading the "Your Skin Is In" program at Concord High School last year. This program asks students to take a "no tanning" pledge for their prom, and NH CCC's Sun Safety Committee works in collaboration with the Melanoma Foundation of New England to facilitate the program throughout New Hampshire.
