It's December and finally... snow!

We look forward to having lots of fun over Advent and hope you're able to join us!

Attention All Christmas Elves!
We are looking for some helping hands to join us for Advent Fun in the Sunday School.  No experience or preparation required.  Crafts, Treasure Hunts, Music and Cookie Decoration on the agenda.  Pick your day and come hang out where the action is.

Calling All Bakers!
We would like to have cupcakes for our Sunday School on December 6th and are in need of 3 dozen cupcakes.  If you would be able to help out with a dozen or two, please contact Sonja or sign the sheet downstairs.

Wanted:  Babies and Toddlers:  We love our little ones and want to ensure a safe and fun place for them to play during our Sunday morning services.  I need to know who you are and what kind of fun you like to have!  Please register your baby and/or toddler with Sonja.

Lets Welcome the Little Ones:  Jesus didn't come into the world with much but he did have the welcoming arms of Mary and Joseph to keep Him safe and warm.  Welcoming arms are needed to help out during Baptism Sundays and during Advent in the Nursery.

If you are interested in any of the above, please use the sign up sheets downstairs or contact Sonja Wolter at sonja11@rogers.com or 519-307-0358.

PARENTS' PORCH
What's Your Choice?

What decisions did your kids make today?  Whether 3, 7, or 15, kids make decisions.  How can you help them make good decisions?
Depending on the stage of development kids are in, they make decisions based on what they want for themselves at the moment, or strict adherence to black and white rules, or in a way that chooses the present over future consequences, whether good or bad.
You're not always there when your child makes a decision.  But when you are, make the most of it.  Help your child clarify what the question really is.  Does she understand what she's choosing?  Once you're sure she understands the question, go over the options.  What will  happen if she chooses this, or that?  What are the advantages and disadvantages of each option?
Sometimes this process helps a child see that the answer is not as obvious as he thought, and taking more time to decide is a good idea.  Sometimes you may not agree with the final decision, such as the way your teenager spends money, but since it doesn't affect anyone but your child, you honour it.  With older kids you can begin to talk about choices that honour God, which is the ultimate good decision.
As kids get older, they have to make more decisions more quickly.  Practice with the small things, and they'll be ready when the big ones come along.

Great thanks to all who participated and created Westminster's float for the Santa Claus Parade.  The Youth Group did a fabulous job in creating the vision and seeing it through.  Special thanks to Grant and Sandra Bryan for their trailer, lights, generator and Jeep!
