Notice to the Congregation
March 8, 2009
Last week, the congregation approved its 2009-10 budget. It's a balanced budget that has ambitious goals for raising income. It also may require the use of $47,000 from the Turner Fund to balance the books.
On Wednesday, at a special meeting of the Communications Committee we discussed strategies to help keep all members informed about our ongoing financial situation.
There will be lots of "Good News" reports about events that are held to raise funds (such as the Shrove Tuesday pancake event).
Ideas are being fleshed out about how we can reach out to those in our community without a church home.
Chuck and Steve will provide regular updates on income and expenditures (attached is the first edition).
Finally, a major stewardship campaign will be launched in the fall.
To make all this work, we need your help and involvement. As Sandra said on Wednesday, we are "a family of faith"; and like every successful family, we need to pull together to make this happen. If you have suggestions or ideas, please share them with Rev. Sandra, Treasurer Chuck, Steve Brown, Steve Doney, Brian Heimbecker, or myself.
Together, we will make this work.
