 Greetings!

Your Christian Education Action Group is working hard!  We are seeing increased numbers in Sunday School!  With more children, we are in need of more helpers and teachers.  We are asking for each parent to come down just one Sunday before June.  Not only is it a great way to alleviate some of the duties of the teacher (cutting, pasting, working on a puzzle, etc.), but it's a wonderful thing to witness the children learning their faith and asking questions!  Please don't feel intimidated!  You may only need to walk around the room and ask if anyone needs help.  Please contact Karen Farace by email for the latest copy of the schedule (kfarace@rogers.com)

Music with Marnie continues to bring enjoyment to the kids.  During Marnie's sessions, they focus on songs and musical crafts.  The Team thanks Marnie for all her time and effort she puts in to each session, and a thanks to Tom Smith who is also taking part in the leadership.

It's that time of year... Confirmation classes will be beginning in March.  Those in grades 8 through 12 and are interested, please contact Lynne Smith in the church office as soon as possible.  Here is the upcoming schedule:
Monday March 2nd - 4:30-6pm at St. Andrew's in Camilla
Monday March 9th - 4:30-6pm at Westminster in Orangeville
Monday March 16th - NO CLASS (March Break)
Monday March 23rd - 4:30-6pm at St. Andrew's in Camilla
Monday March 30th - 4:30-6pm at Westminster in Orangeville

The nursery is open for parents who would like their young children cared for!  Emily Manzerolle has successfully completed her Babysitting Course and loves to play with the youngsters.  If, for some reason, Emily is unavailable, please ask a Sunday School teacher for assistance as we have others who will lead your child in play.

Vacation Bible School is in the discussion stage!  If you're interested in leading or helping in any possible way, please contact Karen Farace ASAP!  We had a great turn-out last year and the kids are all eagerly awaiting this year's theme!

Our Annual Congregational Meeting is coming up on February 8th following worship.  The children will be blessed with pizza and a movie.  The 'big people' will be enjoying a potluck lunch!

PARENTS' PORCH
Leading Your Child to Christ
The statistics are overwhelming - a large majority of Christians come to faith before the age of 14.  And parents are the great spiritual influence on their kids.  Whether you feel prepared or not, you're in a great position to help your child begin a personal relationship with Jesus and look forward to living with Jesus in Heaven.
You can begin praying for your child to come to faith before he or she is even born.  You can be a consistent positive model of a life of faith.  You can openly answer questions about the Bible and God.  When the moment is right, you be ready to share specific verses with your child.
Psalm 139, especially verses 13-16, is a great passage to help kids understand how precious they are to God.  Romans 3:23 tells them that everyone sins.  Everyone messes up.  We can't do everything right in our own strength.  First John 1:9 assures us that if we confess our sin, God will always forgive.  John 3:16 may already be a familiar verse to your child, but perhaps now is the time to look at it carefully and understand its meaning.  Talk about what it means to believe in Jesus.  Offer to pray with your child.  And don't forget the end of the story - believers are children of God!
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!  And that is what we are!"  (1 John 3:1)

NEED A MINUTE?

Valentine's Day is coming!  Empower the children to love!  Ideas?  Cut out hearts to place around the house, create a centrepiece, write an anonymous 'thinking of you' letter to a neighbour, create a scavenger hunt for the kids, make chocolate treats to share, learn to say "I love you" in other languages...

Start thinking about Lent. You could create a calendar for the children and discuss what they will give up for Lent.  Ideas could include: bottled water, disposable lunch supplies, money for toys/candy, video games, etc. Each day they give that item up, they could get a gold star.  Talk to your children about Lent.  And parents, if you give up something like coffee or chocolate for Lent, please consider passing your savings on to the church. Your sacrifice can make a world of difference!

Create a "Bingo" game sheet which may have pictures of household, community or church items instead of numbers.  Not only could this keep them busy at home, but also in other times when distractions are needed.
