A MESSAGE FROM REV. SANDRA

Dear Friends
This past week we began the picture taking for the photo directory and we have been thrilled with the response. If you have missed your appointment, please call the church office immediately. Preparations are underway for our Annual General Meeting after church on Sunday, January 27. Come learn and participate in the decision making of your church, meet the new Board members and enjoy a potluck lunch together. Childcare will be provided. On February 3 we will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion and Covenant with the new Board and Action Group Leaders in worship. Our Celebration Choir are beginning rehearsal for an Easter Cantata to be presented in the Easter morning worship. Martin invites folks to join the choir for this spectacular program. Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings. If anyone is interested in participating in the Lenten Study this year the book that we will be using is Joyce Rupp's PRAYER. Please contact the office if you wish us to order a copy. Cost will be $12.00.  As we begin this new year let us be grateful for the many blessings in our lives and help us to share our blessings with others.

ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
Sunday, January 27, 2008

Our congregation is required to meet annually to receive reports, hold elections, appoint auditors and signing officers and conduct business requiring the action of the whole congregation. Find out what is new and exciting at your church! After the worship service, meet with friends over a potluck lunch - families A to K sandwiches; families L to Z dessert.

Notice to parents! Supervision and a pizza lunch will be available for Sunday School youth during the Annual General Meeting. If you know that you will require this service, please let Tanya Ellacott know so that we may estimate numbers (519-938-8284).

Five Great Reasons to let us know that you have included Westminster United Church in your Will

1.     You will give the congregation the opportunity to offer personal thanks for choosing to support God's work through Westminster United Church as part of your personal legacy.

2.     You can receive help to ensure your Will is worded so your gift is used as you intend.

3.     You may discover ways to save taxes or increase your income right now.

4.     You'll set a good example:  the more people who support Westminster United Church in their Will, the easier it is to encourage others to do the same.

5.     You can direct your gift to the specific area of Westminster's work you would like to support.

Planned Gift Committee
DID YOU KNOW...

By bringing in your Sobeys and Zehrs grocery receipts, the UCW is receives financial benefits.  There is a box outside the friendship room to deposit these receipts. The receipts must be completely in tact in order for us to receive the benefits as they the program coordinator must see the date at the bottom of the receipt. The program no longer includes A&P receipts.

What is FundScrip? This program enables you to purchase gift cards online (by cheque, Electronic Funds Transfer and/or credit card) and the church receives a portion from the sale. For example, a $10 Coles gift card order rewards Westminster with $0.21 If you would like to learn more, please contact Janet Jones or Tanya Ellacott or visit www.fundscrip.com.

Canadian Tire money piling up?  Bring your pile in and drop it off to the office.  The Property Action Group can take your cluttered dollars and use them for projects and supplies around the church.

What to do with those Campell's Soup labels... bring them in to the church!  The Sunday School and Youth benefit by being able to purchase quality supplies for crafts through their "Labels for Education" program. For more information visit http://www.labelsforeducation.com
