IT'S OUR 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
It's hard to believe, yet true. It's been two very special years and for us, time really does fly when you're having fun.

To celebrate, we are going to share a month's worth of inspirational stories. Look out for one each week and be truly impressed with the dedication and strength of these women working out right next to you.

My journey with the Bar Method began back in October 2008, when a friend, Stephanie Davenport, talked me into attending a class. Even though I'd heard so many great things about the Bar Method (Stephanie is actually another Bar transformation story), I was somewhat resistant. Call it fear, intimidation, or just resistance to change.

I was already devoted to working out and working out hard. I'd exercise every day of the week if I could find the time. Running, yoga, spinning, training with a personal trainer and I was still holding on to a lot of extra weight after the birth of my third child. My size 10 clothing was just about cutting off my circulation, and I was frustrated that I wasn't getting any results from all the exercise I was doing. I decided that it couldn't hurt to try something different, so there I was at my first Bar class, shaking like a fiend and loving every minute of it. I decided then (even before I walked down the stairs after my first class and my quads started screaming!) that I was going to go back, as soon as possible.

I've been attending Bar classes three days a week for the last 15 months. In the first two to three months, I dropped 8 to 10 pounds without changing a single thing in my diet. Even as a regular runner for over a decade, I'd never gotten results like that! With the Bar Method, my body began changing immediately, and I loved what I was seeing: my legs were longer and leaner; my arms had definition; my abdominal rolls went from three to two! I couldn't believe it. I had really bulked up from earlier weight training and was happy to let that go.

After several more months of sticking with my Bar routine, I could feel how strong I had become, but I realized that I was stalled with my weight loss. I knew the missing link was my diet. I mentioned this to Jen Hedrick one morning while waiting for class to begin, and she recommended I meet with Hillary Baron Irwin, a nutritionist who had given a workshop at the Summit Bar earlier in the year.

Hillary and I met in mid-September 2009. She gave me a plan that was easy to follow and while it took a lot of effort and will power, I saw results immediately. I discovered that I had so many new muscles under that layer of body fat, compliments of The Bar Method. I look better now, on the eve of my 40th birthday, than I did in my twenties. My 4-year-old actually told me that I don't look like her mommy anymore (which I consider a compliment).  I lost a total of 30 pounds in 15 months and now comfortably wear a size 4. Now that I've reached my weight-loss goals, I'm ready to conquer some other goals at the Bar Method, like doing more push-ups on my toes and taking the "L" option. :)

Happy Anniversary, Angie and Jen! Thank you for making this wonderful exercise program available to us. It has truly changed my life.
