If today was your last day, and tomorrow was too late...would you live each moment like your last?
Stomach churning, internal voices screaming, "You'll look silly doing this," I hit the send button to start the "If Today Was Your Last Day" challenge. And my heart smiled.
In honor of all of the breast cancer survivors, and those we've lost, I challenge you to commit to doing one thing that fuels your heart, joy and integrity each day in October and share it on my blog.
When I came seconds away from being crushed by a semi on the evening of December 9, 2009 singing along to "If today was your last day, and tomorrow was too late..." I knew I'd found my new mantra.
Running on empty; exhausted every night; tired every morning; not taking any time for fun and balance had crept back into my routine. I wasn't walking my talk.
I went back to setting aside thirty minutes each morningto set my priorities. Instead of pouring over my endless to-do list I asked my heart what was most important. The answers were surprising. Things like 'kiss your husband', 'call your grandmother', and 'sing out loud' were more important that making that important business call or rushing through my email??
So I did a mantra check. When I die, what will have mattered more? Then I kissed my husband and sang along to my favorite songs. My heart soared and my fatigue went away. Suddenly I knew my business call would go well. And if I didn't get what I wanted I learned from it. My smile got bigger and broader.
