THRIVE! A Cancer Survivor Says "Why Wait?"

Happy Holidays! Peace On Earth! Happy New Year! I'm so glad to know you.
As 2009 draws to a close, I'm reminded how much I have to be thankful for. This year has flown by, and I have just realized that in 6 short months, my readership for THRIVE has grown over 40%! Thank you! Your support is the best gift I could ask for. Personally, in 2008 has my passion for my life has become stronger that ever. The people I've worked with this year have inspired me to new heights. You could say my life is becoming more balanced. As a life coach, that's probably what you'd expect. Let me say this, life coach or not, I struggle every day to keep my priorities in sight and my time balanced. Some days it works and some days it doesn't. Just ask my husband.
But what makes me feel balanced at the of the day is knowing that most of my decisions were based on what I felt was best, rather than what I thought I should do or had to do. With that, I can accept what went well, learn from what didn't, appreciate where I am and go from there.
I truly believe that the key to life balance isn't having time to do everything. Or enough money to "have it all." The key to life balance is believing you have a choice. So I have a gift for you. Take a few seconds to click this link and answer a few questions. You'll get your own unique and private life balance assessment. Look at the results and ask yourself a few questions. 1. Are there any areas that are begging to be noticed or changed? If so, consider "By changing (area), I am saying 'yes' to (fill in the blank) and 'no' to (fill in the blank). 2. Ask yourslf "What's motivating my need for change? Is it a positive healthy choice, a "must have" for my values, does it "feel right" in my gut? Or am I motivated by should's, must's, coulda's or have-to's?"
If the answers to these questions feel good to you you're on the right track. If your answers are surrounded with should's, have-to's or must's think about taking a closer look. These aren't necessarily easy questions but asking them will bring you peace of mind and more feelings of balance in your life.
ILet's talk about your choices in an exploratory session now. Why wait to choose balance? It's one of the most precious gifts you can give yourself. |

Ask the Survivor Coach...
Q: We lost a dear co-worker to cancer this year. We want her family to know how much she meant to us. What can we do?
A: What a wonderful gift for you to give to her family!
Compiling personal stories or antecdotes in writing, via photos, video or in person is a wonderful gift. Nothing is to small or too large to be remembered and shared. Her family probably didn't know the same side of her that you did.
Making a donation in her name to a one of her favorite charities or causes would be a beatiful and meaningful gesture. Be sure that the acknowldgement gets sent to the family.
If appropriate, developing some type of endowment, fundraiser or scholarship in her name is another way to honor her memory and create a legacy.
Remember, just knowing how much you loved and appreciated your friend will mean so much to her family during this first holiday without her!
If your question is used you will win a Life Balance Exploration session!

My Christmas Wish List by PJ Hamel, from My Breast Cancer Network.com
With the countdown to Christmas in full swing, I figured it was time to get my holiday wish list together. Admittedly, this will be a tough year for retailers; none of us feels quite comfortable spending money on gifts, considering the state of the world economy.
Then again, I never have been much of a shopper. I prefer to make kitchen gifts for my friends, because I've yet to hear anyone say "It doesn't fit" or "Where can I return it?" about a plate of peppermint brownies.
Beyond cookies, there are a number of gifts I'd like to find under the tree this year, things that would make the breast cancer experience better for women everywhere. The following list is for you, Santa: how about it?
1) Painless mammograms: Come on, don't tell me they can't figure out a less painful way to X-ray breasts. If men had to have their most sensitive parts flattened between two hard plates in an unforgiving machine every year, some ultra-tech solution absolutely would have been developed by now, right?

What have you done today that made you smile?
Sincerely, | |
|
