Abandoned Pet Rescue

WHAT'S NEW AT ABANDONED PET RESCUE

We at Abandoned Pet Rescue would like to keep our dedicated donors and volunteers informed of the exciting changes occurring at our Shelter.

There have been a number of major changes to the Shelter facility itself.  These include new epoxy flooring, new overhead lighting, new roofing and various improvements to the air conditioning system, all done to make the Shelter a better working environment for the employees and volunteers, and a safer, better home for the animals. If you were a volunteer, and were turned off by the working conditions, the smell, or the management, please come back and give use a second chance.

We are focused on adopting out our rescued animals. We have expanded our hours for adoption to 12 pm to 5 pm on weekdays, and 10 am to 5 pm on weekends.  We have changed our pricing policy on the animals to:  $125 for puppies, $100 for adult dogs, $60 for kittens, and $50 for adult cats, with a Shelter special of 2 kittens for $70! Finding new homes for our rescues is priority number one.

We have recently amended our By-Laws and updated our policies.  While it was always our policy and practice to operate the Shelter as a no-kill facility, it is now mandated by our By-Laws.  Effective immediately, no present or future Board Member shall receive any form of compensation for his/her services.  Our books are now open to the public and may be viewed at the Shelter.

Our animals will receive enhanced medical care. Dr. Beth Hirshfeld and Dr. Tonya Higgins now care for the animals twice weekly at the Shelter, allowing us to practice preventive medicine.

Finally, after years of dedicated service to the homeless animals of South Florida, our Shelter founder, Karen Judge, has decided to step down from Abandoned Pet Rescue in order to pursue other opportunities.  We truly appreciate the hard work that she committed to our organization over the years, and pledge to continue the work she started almost twenty years ago.  All employees and volunteers have been working dedicatedly to make our shelter a fantastic springboard to new homes for our animals. We invite you to come by and take a tour of the new and improved shelter any day of the week between 12 pm and 3 pm.  We are so pleased with the progress that we have made, and would love to have you help spread the word.

We appreciate and rely on your support as volunteers and patrons, and hope to see you at the Shelter soon.
