UPDATE AND REQUEST FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE:

I have been notified by a number of parents that their children are out ill with a variety of symptoms, which they report, per the children's pediatricians, due to a  "virus". The symptoms vary and range from coughs, fevers, stomachaches, diarrhea, and sore throats.  Some of these symptoms can be due to allergies or other conditions such as Asthma or Strep. This is not indigenous to ISD. It is in all school settings and in many communities.

I am requesting ISD parent's cooperation in helping me as I keep track of illnesses.  Please call the main office each day your child is out ill. If a "fever" is present, I need to know the actual number. The actual number of the temperature taken with a thermometer. Also report any other symptoms.  If your child has been ill and is causing a school absence for more than 2 days, please notify the physician that your child is ill and see if he/she needs to be brought in to see the doctor.

Reinforce covering up coughs, sneezes, and proper hand washing at home after coughing, sneezing, playing outdoors, etc.  Please reference "Guidelines For Childhood Illnesses" sent home with your child last week.

Please call me with any questions or issues: 203-698-6056/203-637-3800.

Thank you in advance for your help and attention to this matter.

OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEERS & SUPPORTERS

Many thanks to EVERYONE involved helping AND supporting the 2012 ISD Family Fun Run and Tag Sale.  This year's event was even more successful than last with more participants, more money raised and more items given to local charities.

The event raised over $11,000 for ISD.

Over 30 bags of clothes were donated to Neighbor to Neighbor and Goodwill of Greenwich and Pacific House Men's Shelter of Stamford. In addition, 2,400 books were donated to the Peace Corps.

Thank you so much to everyone who made that happen.  We were able to raise money for our school community while also giving back to the larger community.

recycle logo Welcome to The Green Dragon!

According to a 2-year study by NASA, many indoor plants absorb air pollutants through their leaves and roots and convert them into breathable air. Within 24 hours, some plants can remove up to 87% of toxic indoor air. So breathe easy and bring some green inside!

It is that time of year again to collect and bring in the "Box Tops for Education" coupons. Every dime counts, so please bring them in, even if you just have a few. There is a special collections box, in the shape of a schoolhouse, in the corridor, opposite the Main office. Please place the properly cut Box Tops in a sealed envelope or baggie with your child's name and class clearly written outside.  The class which collects the most Box Tops will be in store for a special class celebration.
