Fine Art Photography by Betty Lou Curatolo
"My Fine Art Photography is a result of my personal artistic vision of color, form, and composition, as well as emotions and feelings. I enjoy creating compositions and patterns from everyday life that are almost abstract in nature, celebrating a joyous world of pure color and art. Close-up nature photography reveals to me the inner beauty of even the smallest elements of creation.
I first explored photography as a medium to record subject matter for my original paintings in oil and acrylic. I quickly became fascinated with Photography as Art itself, developing and printing my own color photographs in my basement studio.
A few years ago I embraced the digital revolution and enjoy keeping pace with the rapid and exciting development of the Digital Photography world. Being able to immediately see the results of my photos and take unlimited shots gives me the ability to explore subject matter, ideas, perspectives and emotional content more fully.
I print my Fine Art Photography at West Shore using Epson UltraChrome K3 inks on photo paper and acid-free Fine Art paper. I also create Giclees΄ on canvas - the most exciting and popular new innovation to hit the Art World in years. The lightfastness rating on the inks is 108 years for color and over 200 years for black and white. The art on paper is matted and mounted using 100% acid-free archival quality alpha or museum rag boards and linen hinges, and framed with high quality wood frames in the latest styles, under Conservation UV- light filtering glass. My Fine Art Photography is created and framed at West Shore according to the highest and most modern standards, to present and preserve the images for your enjoyment."
Betty Lou's art training includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art and Art Education from Notre Dame College, and Post-Baccalaureate studies in Art at the University of Akron in Ohio. She is the President of West Shore Distributors, which she founded in1985.
Paintings by Barbie Curatolo Barbie Curatolo has always loved art, and she created Sea Cow when she was 12, starting her series of paintings. This series presents a literal and humorous look to common expressions and words such as sea cow, horse fly, and computer mouse. For the next few years, she has balanced school with art and photography, taking art classes and becoming the school's yearbook and newspaper photographer. She has designed the covers for two yearbooks as well as many of the pages as a part of her roles as Yearbook editor and Editor-in-Chief during the past two years. Besides school art shows, her photographs were displayed at the Focus 2008 Photography Competition, and one of them was a Community Choice award winner. Now, at age 17, as a recent St. Peter Chanel High School graduate, she plans on pursuing her love of art at John Carroll University as a hopeful Art, English, and Communication Major.
