Greetings!

Just as the summer heat is building, LAVA continues flowing and growing. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Handstand-a-thon one of the best ever. Its success is a gorgeous testament to the commitment, creativity, strength, and beauty of this flourishing community.

As we all now pour out of our homes and enter into the summer outdoors, so will LAVA be out of the studio on several occasions--see the LAVA Company news box below for info on where and when to come see us.
The current session of LAVA classes will end on June 24th, and next up are our summer classes for kids taught by Allison Schnur and Sophie Sharps. IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH: Allison is relocating to Ann Arbor Michigan in September! LAVA Conditioning on June 13th & 20th, Summer Classes, and our first ever Teacher Training are your last chance to experience the depth and mastery of Allison’s teaching. Allison came to LAVA in 2005 as an intern and since then has been an invaluable member of our community and our organization as a teacher and as a performer. We all wish her the absolute best in her new directions.

So as June gets going, let’s look for each other doing handstands in the grass, on the beach, or at the studio! I hope to see you out there.

It's official: Handstand-a-Thon was a success
HaT 2012 pic by Emily Lambert
On May 20th hundreds of community members came from far and near to join our day of food, play, fundraising, and celebration: young and old, experienced and first-timers, community members and passersby, we all enjoyed a day of standing on our hands and supporting each other in standing on theirs! From free tacos and root beer, to crafts and costumes; from music and astroturf, to raffle tickets and a rapping handstand; from a passers-by becoming First-Timers, to an incredible 30-second hand-to-hand (that's a handstand in someone else's hands!); extraordinary fun was had, seen, made, and shared. With your help we raised over $21,500 raised for LAVA's community programs. Congratulations and THANK YOU!
